The helix apartment

London, Uk

Atellior was appointed to design a new show home at the Fulham Reach development for St George. The inspiration for the design was drawn from the elegant architecture, manicured landscape, and proximity to the River Thames and iconic Hammersmith Bridge in the riverside development. Atellior ensured that the Helix Apartment paid homage to the great painters, scientists, and visionaries of the Renaissance Era.

The primary source of inspiration was a sculpture located along the river path of the development, portraying a female figure reminiscent of ship sculptures. Shell-inspired forms at the base of the figure reinforced nautical connotations and celebrated da Vinci’s Golden Section. The curvilinear form of the shell, combined with the perfect ratio of the Golden Section, laid the foundations for the design.

This influence extended from the proportion of bespoke furniture and joinery, designed with perfect proportions, to decorative items and planting arranged in the Fibonacci Sequence.

The result is a meticulously designed living space that seamlessly integrates artistic, scientific, and historical influences, reflecting the beauty and symbolism of its riverside location.
