The Le Méridien Lav has long been one of Split’s most impressive and upmarket hotels. A popular and well-loved local destination since its completion in the early 1970s, the Lav (meaning ‘lion’ in Croatian) boasts a prime waterfront location, stunning sea views, with glamour and exclusivity provided by the marina and private beach. Nearby Split is one of the most vibrant cities on the Croatian Adriatic, with its historic centre designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The Lav has recently undergone a major refurbishment of the public areas, including bar and lounge, wine cellar, conference facilities, meeting rooms and a total of 378 guest rooms, in addition to the design of four new suites. Additionally, the aim was to equally accommodate the needs of both leisure and business guests and to elevate the quality of the hotel and resort experience.

“We were doubly honoured to be invited by the owner to design its refurbishment in addition to having the opportunity to work on an upscale brand for Marriott”, said Una Barac, the co-founder of Atellior, the architecture and design studio which oversaw the restoration works.
