The Le Méridien Lav has long been one of Split’s most impressive and upmarket hotels. A popular and well-loved local destination since its completion in the early 1970s, the Lav (meaning ‘lion’ in Croatian) boasts a prime waterfront location, stunning sea views, with glamour and exclusivity provided by the marina and private beach. Nearby Split is one of the most vibrant cities on the Croatian Adriatic, with its historic centre designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The unique setting of Le Méridien Lav affords breath-taking views of the surrounding archipelago and the new interior space plan maximises opportunities to enjoy these vistas to the full from the guestrooms and public areas. Atellior saw the opportunity to reinvigorate the building’s original mid-century aesthetic – very much in keeping with the brand values of Le Méridien – while respecting the hotel’s heritage and conveying a sense of Mediterranean joie de vivre.
The signature Specialty Suite, provides a contrast to the overall design scheme, featuring a more playful aesthetic, with specially sourced furniture and ceramics by Croatian artists contributing to the unique ambiance. Highlights include a striking self-standing headboard, a Wall & Deco feature wallpaper; in the master bedroom, there is and custom-made feature vanity in calacatta viola marble while the walk-in shower showcases sleek stone veneers.
The renovated hotel space succeeds in achieving a stylish, modern, relaxed interior, suitable for business and leisure travelers alike, which celebrates the building’s cultural historical significance and importance as a local landmark.
