Royal Arsenal Riverside is one of London’s most exciting Thames-side addresses. Occupying a prime location along the river, the 400-unit development is also home to London’s newest Creative District.

The brief was to celebrate British maximalism; Atellior responded by creating a modern reinterpretation of the Arts and Crafts aesthetic, which championed craftsmanship and favoured bold forms and strong colours, often based on flora and fauna. Atellior took key design inspiration from Vivienne Westwood and Alexander McQueen, who are synonymous with a tongue-in-cheek reinvention of British romantic historicism, a reverence for bespoke craftsmanship and a love of the natural world. Accordingly, Atellior have curated a sensuous multi-layered interior which seamlessly blends textured wallcoverings, luxurious upholstery, elegant bespoke joinery and luxurious finishes, to create a richly coloured vibrant space with a sense of grandeur.

Atellior used local bespoke joinery firms and sourced furniture and fittings from British ISO accredited manufacturers, designers and artisans to help limit the carbon footprint. One of the innovations of the design is the relatively high proportion of bespoke joinery, which brought its own challenges in terms of scale and budget. Additionally, the bathrooms were manufactured pod-style off-site which demanded a meticulous approach to planning to achieve a seamless installation. The finished show apartment responds to both its environment and the client brief by offering the target buyer (a young professional or overseas investor) the perfect opportunity to buy into a piece of quintessential British design; a magnificently eclectic yet incredibly glamorous jewel box of a home.
